A Day At the Zoo
June 12, 2008So I told my kids that I would plan something special to do yesterday since I have been working and they have been decently good. We decided on taking the train to the zoo, since our pass is rarely used. John and Ethan have never been on a train so I thought it would be fun. So we get off at the zoo stop which they should rename the 1/2 mile walk to the zoo stop. I know there is walk to get to the zoo once you walk off the train but I find it funny listening to everyone ask for directions to the zoo. I guess we expect the zoo as soon as you exit the train and it just doesn’t happen that way. We arrived at the zoo just in time to see the dolphin show. The kids chose to wait 1/2 hour in line before the show started so we could get good seats. Our time paid off, we got 3rd row seats. The dolphin show is not like it used to be. I remember a trainer riding a dolphon in the water and I could have sworn the show lasted longer than the 20 minutes it did yesterday. So we went on our way to Sting Ray Bay where they now have sting rays and sharks. Ethan panicked and did not want to go in, shocking! Gabrielle and John touched a couple sting rays and saw a nurse shark. On to the children’s zoo which any other day I would find absolutely skeevish, but today there were little piglets that were the cutest thing ever! They were playing tag and running around and then they all raced to momma for dinner. Precious! Momma, not so much. She was ginormous! My this time we had about an hour before the zoo closed so we decided to hop on the tram to visit the animals on the other side of the zoo. It turned out to be a great day with perfect weather. Once we got on the train to come home the kids wanted to sit on top. After sludging through the leftovers of someones beer (I hope it was beer) we took our seats. Ethan enjoyed hearing where we were stopping next but wanted to know why they did not say ‘ALL ABOARD!’ We will have to ask that next time!
After seeing these cuties, we decided we wanted a pig. That is all we need!
John decided he could not cross on the rocks. The kids were so annoyed behind him!
I loved watching the giraffes. They are in my opinion one of the most beautiful animals!

Love the pictures. Looks like a fun day!
